Kings XI Punjab was the only unbeaten team till now. They played five and won all of them. CSK started off disappointingly by losing against Kings XI even after posting 205 runs on the scoreboard. Since then they have never looked back. CSK defeated Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. They are comfortably sitting on the second position.

We all know that none of the teams can be in a comfort zone in IPL as couple of matches can shuffle the points tally completely. Hence neither CSK nor a team like KKR can take things easy. Especially KKR has hard earned two wins out of five matches they played. They recently lost to Rajasthan Royals in a hearth breaking super over. The disappointment was clearly evident on the face of skipper Gambhir. But he is hopeful now and he appreciates how important the fans support is for his team. He tweets..

The best thing for CSK this year has been the opening pair. CSK made a right decision by taking onboard McCullum and Smith in this year's IPL auction. They both have sticked to the crease for as many overs as possible and scored more than half of the total CSK runs scored so far. Middle order needs to get a bit more exposure in case the opening pair fails.

Good to see Gambhir breaking its streak of three ducks in the first three matches. Narine is always reliable and player to watch out. Kallis is doing a consistent job so far and he can do it better if he has a higher strike rate.

Kings XI Punjab face Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL's match today

After couple of brilliant wins, Royal Challengers have faced couple of shocking defeats that has moved them down on fifth position. With better net run rates, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders have toppled the Bangalore team led by Virat Kohli. 

RCB can't ask for a tougher match at this juncture when they face a team like Kings XI that is yet to lose a match in IPL 2014. RCB is full of batting stars but they crumbled like cards when they were bowled out just for 70 runs against Rajasthan Royals. Yuvraj Singh is scoring well but his strike rate is certainly a concern for Kohli and company.

Virat Kohli remains consistent with his bat. A lot more is expected from AB de Villiers. Parthiv Patel has batted better than what was expected. Gayle is yet to play a match this year in IPL. His comeback can  be a huge boost for the Royal Challengers.

Kings XI Punjab won the last match without any noticeable contribution from the double M that is Maxwell and Miller. Many teams have fallen prey to the hard hitting of Maxwell. But in the last match the bowlers did a great job for Punjab to clinch a win. Even Sehwag is providing decent scores to add to the team's total. Pujara is finding his feet in the shortest version of the game but he can soon be a Kallis of T20 cricket.

Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Daredevils

Two teams that are lingering down at the bottom of the points table. They have nothing to lose now. Not too late but can't wait anymore. They need to kick off their winning ways. Mumbai is still winless whereas Delhi managed just one win out of four matches they played. Mumbai will play its fourth match today. Three to four straight wins in a row is what these two teams need.

The opening pair of Quinton de Kock and Murali Vijay seems to be well settled. They are followed by capable unit of batting line up that comprises of Pietersen, Duminy and Dinesh Karthik. Speculations are high that Delhi may bring Duminy up the order as he is in sparkling form. Mumbai's batting line up looks in dismal form. So Parnell and Shami would like to capitalise on this.

Mumbai Indians could manage scores of 121, 115 and 141 in their first three matches. That shows how badly the team is struggling while posting good totals. Hussey didn't fit into the schemes of the team so far so they can look to drop him and give Dunk an opportunity. Or they can bring Pollard and Anderson up the order and ask Rohit Sharma to open the innings.

The bowling line up for Mumbai looks strong but the batsmen have failed to post a total good enough to defend. Zaheer and Malinga are doing a good job in the pace attack. Harbhajan and Ojha are capable enough to pressurise the opposition with their quality spin attack. Can Mumbai break its winless record today or will Delhi register its second win and gain some momentum? Let us wait and watch. Chennai Super Kings vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

This could be a match of two big hitting teams. And such a match is always a pleasure to watch when we are talking about the shortest version of cricket. Good part is both the teams have returned from a win in their last match. Especially Chennai has proved yet again that no one bounces back as well as they do. After losing first match they won three on the trot and won them all comprehensively.

For Sunrisers the biggest issue till the last match was drought of runs from the top order. Any team would feel proud to possess a top order like Dhawan, Finch and Warner. But they didn't click until they played in their last match against Delhi Daredevils. Similarly Chennai feels proud with powerful hitters up the order like McCullum and Dwayne Smith. Not to forget they have a long batting line up that consists of Raina and Dhoni too.

Sunrisers have played against Chennai twice and lost both the matches to them. They would be itching to clinch a win against the strong Chennai whereas Chennai would love to register another win and seal their second position in the points tally. Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

Both these teams suffered a narrow loss in the previous matches. Rajasthan lost to Chennai by seven runs and RCB lost to similar such match against KKR. But things would be different this time as they would enjoy the leisure to play on best of the three venues in the UAE.

Shane Watson for Rajasthan is inconsistent. People also feel he should come up the order and open the innings. That would lay a quick and solid foundation to the Royals' innings. The Royal think tank can think of sneaking in Cooper or even Unmukt Chand up the batting order.

RCB has a strong batting line up and they would be hopeful of Gayle's return. Kohli, De Villiers and Yuvraj would always be the backbone of their middle order. Bowling wise they can turn tables on Rajasthan Royals. Both teams would strive for a win here to climb up few places in the points table.

Kolkata Knight Riders vs Kings XI Punjab

Kolkata pulled out an unbelievable victory while defending an average total against RCB. It seemed it would be an easy win for RCB, but some tight bowling in the end, sluggish batting by Yuvraj and spectacular catch by Lynn dropped the match in KKR's pockets. They would love to carry on with a winning streak from here on as they have the potential to do so. But this time they are up against the strongest performing team of IPL 2014.

Gautam Gambhir is at the lowest of his confidence level after three ducks on the trot. A win in the last match would have provided him great relief after he was plumbed LBW for a naught again. Sunil Narine is doing a great job as usual. Kallis looks in great touch this year with his bat. He doesn't seem to be stopping in any terms.

Kings XI is certainly riding high on success of Maxwell. He has hammered all the opposition bowlers across all parks. Big question is how long can continue his good form. The team looks too relied upon Maxwell. Miller has batted well in couple of matches. If the bowling and batting department can click in tandem again, this team looks unbeatable.

For Delhi Daredevils, a lot of reliance is on the shoulders of Karthik and Duminy. Pietersen's return may add some relief to the batting line up. Bowling wise they are relatively weaker in the spin department as Nadeem or Duminy couldn't impress much with the bowling.

Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians

You can certainly expect a lot of attention and fireworks when two of the most popular IPL teams lock horns. Two times champions Chennai Super Kings take on the defending champions Mumbai Indians. The only thing common between these two teams this year has been the disappointing start to the IPL. But CSK has recovered well meanwhile Mumbai Indians look completely demoralised.

CSK lost their opening match to Kings XI Punjab even after posting 205 runs on board. Cricket fans started to write this team off but they forget CSK's ability to bounce back hard. Later they won against Delhi Daredevils by 93 runs and won against Rajasthan Royals by seven runs. That has placed them in the top three teams of the points table. Raina is in good form but Smith looks in a better touch. McCullum can be very dangerous meanwhile Faf or Dhoni can provide a good support in the middle order. Ashwin, Mohit Sharma, Ishwar Pandey and Jadeja have done a great job so far.

Mumbai Indians look completely lost. They haven't looked like winning so far. Nothing is working for them. They need to gather their confidence back and bounce back hard. They have run machine Michael Hussey and explosive all rounder like Pollard. Some runs from Rohit Sharma's bat can come in handy for the team. Malinga is the most reliable bowler in IPL history and he has always been a plus point.

A lot of eyes would be set on KKR's bowling sensation Sunil Narine. He has clinched five wickets in eight overs giving away just 38 runs. KKR would rely a lot on him to clinch few important wickets of RCB today.

Glen Maxwell is at the primest of his forms with two sparkling innings of 95 and 89 in last two matches. Miller has provided him a great stand at the other end of the crease. If Maxwell goes on to score another half century, the team might win based on his previous records. Punjab has two more attractive players viz Sehwag and Johnson. They both looked rusty in last two matches but if these two get going with Maxwell and Miller, it would be almost impossible to beat Kings XI Punjab.

Suprising stat here would be the head to head record. Sunrisers Hyderabad has played two matches so far against Kings XI and won both. So certainly Kings XI would push hard in this match to open their winning account against the Sunrisers.

Shikhar Dhawan is a powerful batsman up the order for Sunrisers. Fans are eager to see his powerful hitting which has been missing from past few months. Another blaster in the team is David Warner. World knows what he can do when he is in golden touch. If Sunrisers can score big, they can content the opposition with a strong bowling line up consisting of Steyn, Ishant, Bhuvaneshwar, Amit Mishra and Karan Sharma. Not to forget they have a lovely allrounder named Darren Sammy in their line up as well.

It isn't too regular to see a team posting 200 plus runs and then losing it. The strongest team in the IPL history viz. Chennai Super Kings suffered that blow in their opening match against Kings XI Punjab. After a splendid start from McCullum and Dwayne Smith. They scored 123 runs in just 12.4 overs before McCullum departed on 67 off just 45 balls. Smith scored 66 off just 43 balls. Raina and Dhoni continued the hitting with 24 and 26 runs from 19 and 11 balls respectively. But they didn't receive an equal support from the bowling end. Magical innings from Maxwell (95 runs from 43 balls) and Miller (54 runs from 37 balls) snatched the match from CSK.

It would be interesting to see how Chennai's team can bounce back after that heart breaking loss. Although it isn't late at all for CSK as they have played just one match, still they need to pull up their socks at the earliest. On the other hand we have Delhi Daredevils that looked too depleted now in the absence of Sehwags and Pietersens. Skipper Pietersen didn't play first two matches due to an injury. Although the clouds of uncertainties are still very dark that whether he would play today or not, the good news flew in later when he indicated that he has almost recovered from the injury.

Delhi lost its first match against Royal Challengers Bangalore but they bounced back well against Kolkata to clinch a win. JP Dumminy is in a phenomenal form. He is just below the orange cap holder Maxwell. Duminy has scored 119 runs from 2 innings with a strike rate of 143. He also has six sixes to his name so far and e finds himself amongst the top few six hitters this year in the IPL's seventh edition.

On paper we still fill Chennai is a stronger team, but as you saw how they lost even after posting 200 plus on board, it is too hard to pick a favourite. Rather its always hard to do this in any IPL face off.

Not to forget Parthiv Patel did the good job up the order in the batting line up. Royal Challengers will cherish a victory to kick off their account in IPL 2014. Unfortunately the cricket fans couldn't see Gayle playing in the first match. He suffered from some back issues. If he is fit, Nic Maddinsion will make way for the West Indies storm! RCB looks even stronger this year in presence of Albie Morkel, Yuvraj and Starc along with their regular members like Gayle, AB de Villiers, Kohli and many more to name.

On the other hand the IPL defending champions Mumbai Indians saw a demoralising start when they were defeated comprehensively by Kolkata Knight Riders. Nothing went Mumbai's way. The only thing to cheer about was a good knock from Rayudu. Narine did a great job to content the defending champs and welcome them to IPL 2014 with a defeat. This team has the second best win ratio in IPL history (CSK is on the top of the list). This team has the calibre to bounce back and that too early! Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Daredevils

One hand we have a team that unexpectedly kicked off the season very well by defeating Mumbai Indians. And on the other hand we have a team that has a fresh look but their opening match showcased a result pretty similar to their overall campaign last year. Kolkata Knight Riders would be high on confidence after some superb batting and bowling displays against Mumbai Indians. Kallis scored 72 from 46 balls while Manish Pandey scored 64. Gambhir the skipper departed for a duck and he must be determined to score big this time. Narine was exceptional with a bowling spell of 4/20.

Delhi Daredevils lacked lustre last year and hence we saw a lot of changes in the squad this time. Sehwag was dropped and this was the biggest one! KP didn't lead the team in the last match and Delhi fans would expect him to take care of the captaincy this time.  JP Duminy is a good inclusion in the team this year and he proved his worth in the last match. There is a bit of fresh air in the team squads due to some restructuring or shall we say reshuffling of the teams in the IPL 2014 auction. Chennai Super Kings reliable all rounder Morkel has made an entry into the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Yuvraj Singh has moved into the Royal Challengers too. So entries of all rounders would strenghten team's batting and bowling department. Above all Morkel and Yuvraj strengthens the hard hitting ability of this team.

Virat Kohli is one the most consistent batsmen you would ever see. So he always the best person to have in the outfit. Ravi Rampaul, Starc and Morkel could be the economy bowlers for the team. Meanwhile the team has a lot of part time spinners to further deaccelarate the opposition run rate.

Delhi Daredevils lost Virender Sehwag who once used to be their star batsman. The team has got a fresh look now under Kevin Pietersen. Murali Vijay who did partially well for the CSK would now serve the Daredevils. Neesham, Unadkat, Shami, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Rahul Sharma can do an exceptionally good job with the ball.

It is too hard to predict a favourite at this moment but overall Royal Challengers look a stronger team. But you never know when it comes to cricket. On a very day any team may outbeat the favourites.
