They defeated Mumbai Indians in the IPL opener and faced a loss against Gujarat Lions. They would definitely want to win today and climb up the points table.

Kings XI Punjab seems to have carry forwarded the disappointing form from last year. They finished in the bottom few of points tally last year and nothing seems to have changed till now. Although we are in the early stages of the league, its always good to get back to the winnings ways as soon as possible. And the team would be well aware of this fact. The team heavily relies on the likes of Miller and Maxwell. They haven't clicked yet. If Shaun Marsh, Miller, Murali Vijay, Maxwell, etc get going, the team would hunt some wins moving forward. 

Royal Challengers Bangalore are always a 'team to beat'. What a batting line up they boast of with the presence of Chris Gayle, Shane Watson, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. The bowling line up may leak a bit of runs but they have good campaigners like Samuel Badree, Iqbal Abdulla, Varun Aaron, David Wiese, Parvez Rasool, Mandeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, etc. A lot of options to select from.

Delhi Daredevils are considered to be one of the weakest teams in the IPL. They lost miserably against Kolkata Knight Riders. It was a pleasant sight to see them bounce back hard against Punjab. India's most successful IPL bowler Amit Mishra was at the top of his form when he clinched four wickets for hardly any runs. With players like Sanju Samson, Zaheer Khan, Imran Tahir, Pawan Negi. Duminy, Quinton de Kock, Nathan Coulter-Nile, etc this line up deserves many more wins!

We already have one finalist and we have couple of matches before the final to get another finalist. Mumbai Indians are already through to the final and they are enjoying a much deserved break. Unfortunately that was followed by many losses which gave them a fear of elimination. In a do or die match against KKR, they scored 199 and restricted KKR to 190. In that nail biter, Shane Watson proved his worth with a hundred and superb bowling effort too. Rajasthan Royals would expect similar stunt from Watson and some good runs from the bat of Steve Smith, Ajinkya Rahane, Sanju Samson and many more to name.

Chris Morris has played a major role in the bowling line up for RR. At times he could be very expensive but he would regularly provide you with breakthroughs. And at times he comes in handy with his bat. Pravin Tambe might get an opportunity tonight and he would play a major role.

Royal Challengers Bangalore boasts one of the strongest batting line ups. If the likes of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli or AB de Villiers get going, Rajasthan Royal might see nightmares tonight. Considered as favourites tonight, RCB are expected to pull out a win and go ahead to win their first ever IPL title. For that they need three straight wins which ideally isn't what they usually do. They have reached the top four but they have never been too consistent in winning few matches on the trot.

Mitchell Starc has made the biggest difference to the team since he joined the playing XI. He has been highly economical and clinched wickets regularly. He has been able to contain good batsmen thus helping the team to restrict the opposition to low totals. Ashok Dinda failed to impress so he might be replaced with Varun Aaron or S Aravind. Virat Kohli would expect good bowling from Chahal, Wiese and Harshal Patel who likely to play tonight.

Head to head these two teams have faced each other on 14 occasions. Both have managed seven wins each. The winner tonight will take the tally to eight and also meet CSK at Ranchi for the second Qualifier. Mumbai Indians would keep an eye on both these matches before they play at the Eden Gardens for the prestigious IPL title.

CSK and MI are head to head equally matched teams with 10 wins shared. But Chennai Super Kings might not be considered as favourites here due to their not so good record at the Wankhede Stadium. Plus Mumbai Indians have got a better momentum with lot of wins in the second half of this IPL. CSK enjoyed more wins in the first half of their IPL campaign in 2015.

Two times IPL champions and total four times finalists, CSK had another shot in their arm as their top run getter Brendon McCullum would fly for New Zealand vs England cricket series and would no longer be available to serve CSK for the remainder of the league. Although CSK has got a good replacement in form of Michael Hussey but he hasn't yet found his feet wherease McCullum was well set with 436 runs to his name and a good strike rate too. Hopefully Dwayne Smith takes the onus in absence of Brendon and Hussey can provide him a good support.

In presence of Ashish Nehra, Ishwar Pandey, R Ashwin, Jadeja, Negi and Bravo; the team has restricted the oppositions to modest totals. That has been a key to CSK's success this year. Even after posting a below par total, their bowlers have done a great job to defend the score.

For Mumbai Indians this is a golden opportunity to beat CSK at home and reach the Eden Gardens final! They would enjoy the crowd support and they have played real good cricket at home. The good part is their whole batting line up has found its form at the right time. Lendl Simmons and Parthiv Patel are doing well at the top of the order. Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu are scoring consistently in the middle order whereas Pollard and Harbhajan come in handy with the bat.

Lasith Malinga has found his form too while McClenaghan is proving fatal for the oppositions. Harbhajan, Suchith and Pollard are doing a decent job with the ball to contain the opposition.

Please note the winner of this match will reach the finals while the losing team will meet the winning team of 1st eliminator (RCB vs RR) in the second eliminator. The winner of that match will proceed to the finals at the Eden Garden, Kolkata.

If he makes a comeback into the team against CSK, Rajasthan Royals would be stronger. Watson is a good all rounder and a match winner too. Deepak Hooda is doing a great job with his surprise batting packages. Faulkner is good in patches. Ajinkya Rahane has regained his consistency.

Chennai Super Kings are always the team to beat. Such a successful team in the IPL history, they are again in a winning track this year. After clinching three wins on the trot they are looking for their fourth win. Brendon McCullum and Smith are very dangerous at the top of the order. Suresh Raina, Faf du Plessis and MS Dhoni take good care of the middle order. R Ashwin, Ishwar Pandey and Ishant Sharma are doing a consistently good job with the ball for the team.

Match 2 - Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians (8pm IST)

Venue - M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru

Royal Challengers Bangalore have already pulled out a great win over defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders. But later they faced a loss at home against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Now would eye a win here at home to climb up the points tally. The team would strive hard to deprive Mumbai Indians from their first points in the competition.

Chris Gayle with all his great IPL T20 records would again form the backbone for the team. His astonishing 96 runs against KKR would certainly be considered as one of his best IPL innings ever. AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli are another two great batsmen in the team. Bowling has been a concern for this team. If Mitchell Starc could play that would be a great boost for the team. 

Mumbai Indians are yet to win a match. They look completely out of sorts. The body language during the matches isn't good. They need a real big win to bounce back hard. Rohit Sharma is giving his best in terms of scoring runs. But somehow the whole unit as a team has not clicked yet. Corey Anderson, Kieron Pollard and Harbhajan Singh have been good in patches but the team lacks consistency. Its highly imperative for MI to pull up their sleeves before they find it difficult to make it to the knock out stage.

Delhi will take on Hyderabad at Visakhapatnam and the match would begin at 4pm. Delhi Daredevils have something to cheer about after a long time. They lost 11 consecutive matches in IPL which was followed by a thumping win over strong Kings XI team. Yuvraj Singh and Mayank Agarwal came out with all guns blazing and chased a big target comfortably. It was an absolute treat to watch Yuvraj with so much of confidence after such a long time.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have had a shaky start to their campaign. Two losses and one win is all they have so far. While they gained some confidence after beating RCB in their own backyard, they suffered an easy loss at home against Rajasthan Royals. David Warner and company need to pull up their socks and give their best today. Notably SRH has never lost a match against DD. So they can also capitalise on their past records and continue the winning momentum against the Daredevils.

Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders would be pitted against a strong Kings XI Punjab team. It would almost seem like we are revisiting the IPL 2014 final when these two teams locked horns. KKR emerged as champions then. Kings XI Punjab would love to make it even stevens this time.

Glenn Maxwell hasn't clicked yet for Kings XI Punjab. If he goes up the order and stays there even for four to five overs, he can do a lot of damage. Virender Sehwag is in good form and consistently scoring runs. With a good batting depth and playing at home, Kings XI have an upper hand today.

For KKR, Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa at the top have to steer the innings atleast through first six to eight overs. Rest of the batsmen can take it forward from there. KKR lost to RCB in their last match even after posting 177 runs on board. We all know its hard to stop Gayle when its his day. He blew away KKR bowling line up with a quick fire 96.

We all know that none of the teams can be in a comfort zone in IPL as couple of matches can shuffle the points tally completely. Hence neither CSK nor a team like KKR can take things easy. Especially KKR has hard earned two wins out of five matches they played. They recently lost to Rajasthan Royals in a hearth breaking super over. The best thing for CSK this year has been the opening pair. CSK made a right decision by taking onboard McCullum and Smith in this year's IPL auction. They both have sticked to the crease for as many overs as possible and scored more than half of the total CSK runs scored so far. Middle order needs to get a bit more exposure in case the opening pair fails.

Good to see Gambhir breaking its streak of three ducks in the first three matches. Narine is always reliable and player to watch out. Kallis is doing a consistent job so far and he can do it better if he has a higher strike rate.

Rajasthan Royals started their campaign with a win but similar to CSK, lost their second match to Kings XI Punjab. Kings XI seems to be a team to beat at this moment! But not to forget, IPL is full of crests and troughs. It is not going to be easy for any team in forthcoming matches.

Both CSK and RR had similar woes against Kings XI. After posting a decent total they lost to Kings XI, due to some loose bowling. They need to gather everything in terms of their bowling attack before they could think of a win here. A lot depends on Ashwin, Hilfenhaus, Mohit Sharma and Badree (for CSK) if he is to play today. Similarly Rajasthan Royals would depend on Faulkner, Tambe, Bhatia, Cooper and many more to name. Shane Watson has to pick the right combination to beat the best IPL team.
