Kolkata Knight Riders failed to chase a small total against CSK and Gautam Gambhir wasn't able to digest the defeat. Again Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa will have to play a major role up the order. As KKR have opted to field first they are looking to chase down a total here. Eight out of the 10 last matches played here are won by chasing teams. That could have been a reason Gambhir opted to field first.

Dhoni at toss said he doesn't have a good idea of the pitch here. So he would have also liked to chase. But he welcomes Gambhir's decision and would try to post a good total on board. Brendon McCullum and Dwayne Smith have done a great job so far for CSK. Suresh Raina needs to be consistent with his bat. Pawan Negi and Ronit More get a chance to play for CSK today. Ishwar Pandey is rested while R Ashwin is out with an injury for next couple of matches.

Sunil Narine was an ace in the bowling unit for KKR last year. After seeing a ban on his bowling he rectified his action but he didn't look too effective this year. Above all, another ban has been imposed on his off-spinners. This creates another dark clouds on his career and he might be rested for next matches. Gambhir also likes to continue with Pat Cummins in place of Morkel who did a great job so far.

Bravo came up with a match winning last over against KKR last time. Let us see what he is due for tonight with his ball as well as the bat.

The best thing for CSK this year has been the opening pair. CSK made a right decision by taking onboard McCullum and Smith in this year's IPL auction. They both have sticked to the crease for as many overs as possible and scored more than half of the total CSK runs scored so far. Middle order needs to get a bit more exposure in case the opening pair fails.

Good to see Gambhir breaking its streak of three ducks in the first three matches. Narine is always reliable and player to watch out. Kallis is doing a consistent job so far and he can do it better if he has a higher strike rate.

Chennai Super Kings, the defending champions have lacked form this year and their last loss was something which they could just blame themselves. It wasn't a match worth losing. The top order gave a good platform for the chase but the middle order threw away wickets and Chennai ultimately lost the match to Kings XI Punjab on their own home turf.

Faf du Plesis and Badrinath are in striking form. Bravo and Morkel still provide a good lower order support with a brisk scoring rate. Batsmen who have specially disappointed this year are Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni. CSK bowling still does better than the batting department. Bollinger, Morkel and Bravo provide a good variety  in the quickies. Kulasekara is doing a good job as well. Ashwin has managed to clinch only 3 wickets out of 9 matches that he has played which is disappointing.

Kolkata Knight Riders have won their past four matches. Gautam Gambhir has led from the front. His innings in the last match against Royal Challengers Bangalore took his team home with a comfortable win. McCullum and Kallis have begun to contribute their part. whereas Yusuf Pathan and Manoj Tiwary's bad run continues. There is an obvious more consistency in bowling department with the likes of Brett Lee, Balaji, Kallis, Rajat Bhatia, etc.

It is very difficult to provide a prediction for this match. Chennai will have a home advantage but it will be very hard for them to beat the inform Kolkata team.
