Delhi Daredevils are considered to be one of the weakest teams in the IPL. They lost miserably against Kolkata Knight Riders. It was a pleasant sight to see them bounce back hard against Punjab. India's most successful IPL bowler Amit Mishra was at the top of his form when he clinched four wickets for hardly any runs. With players like Sanju Samson, Zaheer Khan, Imran Tahir, Pawan Negi. Kolkata Knight Riders, with a big win under their belt will play today's match as favourites. Home ground, crowd support and high at confidence - three factors that make them the favourites tonight. KKR captain Gautam Gambhir, who is hardly seen smiling wore a smile after defeating Delhi Daredevils on Sunday. This is what a win does to you! That not only brought joy but a sense of relief on his face. KKR were at the top of points tally after 12 matches and suddenly they lost way to finish on the fifth spot. They couldn't even qualify for the knock out stage. 

Kolkata's pitch would certainly support the spinners. Piyush Chawla and Brad Hogg did a perfect job in last match. As far as the head to head stats is concerned, Mumbai Indians are far ahead. Out of the 16 KKR vs MI matches, Mumbai Indians have won 11. With spin a friendly option on the Eden Garden's pitch, Harbhajan Singh would be eager to bowl. As far as the batting is concerned, the impetus shifts to Rohit Sharma, Simmons, Pollard and Butler. As usual, RCB begins their IPL journey with a tag of favourites. They have been the most fancied teams in the IPL with no title wins at all. Chris Gayle would be on cloud nine after his team won the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2016. He would be ready all guns blazing to perform for his IPL franchise in Bengaluru. AB de Villiers too have had some great outings with RCB. Shane Watson's inclusion should naturally be a big boost for the team's chances to win the IPL this time.

Sunrisers Hyderabad had a great outing some two years ago. Last year they had a disappointing season. The team heavily relies on the performance of their openers Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner. Unfortunately none of these two did well in the T20 World Cup that was played in India.

The good part is the inclusion of Ashish Nehra and Mustafizur Rahman in the bowling department. Ashish Nehra has just done a great job under Dhoni's team in CSK. Now he would be a good contributor for SRH this season. Mustafizur, just like Nehra was extremely successful in the T20 world cup. Kolkata Knight Riders have seen better days under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir. A win loss record of 16-24 was improved to 44-33 under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir. Not to forget, Kolkata Knight Riders have won IPL twice under Gambhir. 

Delhi Daredevils have always pitched in strong players but never manged to win the trophy. They finished 2012 IPL as table toppers, but it was KKR who clinched the title in 2012. Last three seasons have been really bad for the Daredevils. They finished in the bottom two these three years. 

As it happened every single year, Kolkata Knight Riders will rely heavily on Gautam Gambhir, Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey to score runs at the top. The bowling department will be spin heavy with the likes of Sunil Narine and Piyush Chawla.

For Delhi Daredevils, Zaheer Khan would be the new captain. He would receive a good support from the likes of team members like JP Duminy, Quinton de Kock, Shreyas Iyer, Chris Morris and Amit Mishra. The sensational player who won loads of hearts in the T20 world cup, Carlos Brathwaite will also be a part of Delhi Daredevils this year.

Mumbai Indians started their IPL 2015 journey on a very low note. After losing many of their initial matches they were languishing at the bottom half of the points tally. Suddenly there was a turn around in their fortunes. Suddenly they found the right combination that brought them to the winning ways. They started winning almost every match they played and to everyone's surprise they finished second in the points table (just below Chennai Super Kings). That served them an opportunity to take on CSK in the first qualifier at Wankhede Stadium where they emerged as the better team. This gave them a direct entry to the finals.

Chennai Super Kings were destined to meet Mumbai Indians in the finals after facing them twice in the league stage and later in the first qualifier. Mumbai Indians won two out of these three matches. CSK has a chance tonight to not only win the IPL trophy but even the head to head count this year.

CSK had a flying start to IPL 2015 and even though they slipped in performance in the later half of the league, they still managed to stay in top two for most of this season. They ended up on the top spot of points table with their good wins and better net run rates. 

CSK will appear in an IPL final for the sixth time! Six finals in eight editions in itself showcases the success of this great team. Mumbai Indians will feature in their third ever final and surprisingly they have played their first two finals against CSK (won one and lost one to CSK). CSK and KKR are the only two teams in IPL history to have clinched the trophy twice. Mumbai has an opportunity to grab the trophy for the second time and join the club of CSK and KKR.

Last time when these two teams played, it was Lendl Simmons, Harbhajan Singh and Kieron Pollard who come up with match winning performances. CSK will keep a close eye on them. Apart from them even Parthiv Patel, Suchith, Rohit Sharma and Malinga could be lethal for the Chennai team.

As far as CSK is concerned, its good to see Michael Hussey doing a great job in place of Brendon McCullum to notch up a win over RCB in the second qualifier. MS Dhoni anchored the innings in the end to a win while Negi came in handy with couple of powerful blows. Dwayne Bravo and Ashish Nehra will play an important role as fast bowlers and Jadeja, Negi and Ashwin will play a major role to restrict the MI batsmen from scoring freely.

This match would bring and end to perhaps the best IPL edition so far. We never saw so much of fight between the teams to reach the playoffs. It was anybody's game but now we have the two best teams who would battle it out at the Eden Gardens for the prestigious Indian Premier League title.

As far as T20 cricket is concerned, we will have to take a long break as CLT20 league is less likely to happen this year. You never know we might have a shortened version of IPL later this year between the top four teams. MI had a better momentum which lead them to the finals.

It would be interesting to see how CSK can cope up with the absence of their master blaster Brendon McCullum. With his quick starts the team was able to capitalise and build big scores. Michael Hussey has played just to matches and he is yet to find his feet. If he proves to be an equally good replacement for Brendon, one can expect wonders from CSK. As far as bowling is concerned, Ashish Nehra, Negi, Ashwin, Bravo and Jadeja will have to pass a litmus test against the likes of Gayle, AB de Villiers and Virat.

The batting trio can demolish any bowling line ups of the T20 cricket. If these three would get going, CSK would face tough times at Ranchi. But if the CSK bowlers can contain these three on a lower score, things would be much easier for them. On the other hand, RCB have some good bowlers like Mitchell Starc, Aravind, Chahal, etc who could maximum discomfort Smith, Raina, Hussey, Dhoni and company.

Chris Morris has played a major role in the bowling line up for RR. At times he could be very expensive but he would regularly provide you with breakthroughs. And at times he comes in handy with his bat. Pravin Tambe might get an opportunity tonight and he would play a major role.

Royal Challengers Bangalore boasts one of the strongest batting line ups. If the likes of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli or AB de Villiers get going, Rajasthan Royal might see nightmares tonight. Considered as favourites tonight, RCB are expected to pull out a win and go ahead to win their first ever IPL title. For that they need three straight wins which ideally isn't what they usually do. They have reached the top four but they have never been too consistent in winning few matches on the trot.

Mitchell Starc has made the biggest difference to the team since he joined the playing XI. He has been highly economical and clinched wickets regularly. He has been able to contain good batsmen thus helping the team to restrict the opposition to low totals. Ashok Dinda failed to impress so he might be replaced with Varun Aaron or S Aravind. Virat Kohli would expect good bowling from Chahal, Wiese and Harshal Patel who likely to play tonight.

Head to head these two teams have faced each other on 14 occasions. Both have managed seven wins each. The winner tonight will take the tally to eight and also meet CSK at Ranchi for the second Qualifier. In presence of Ashish Nehra, Ishwar Pandey, R Ashwin, Jadeja, Negi and Bravo; the team has restricted the oppositions to modest totals. That has been a key to CSK's success this year. Even after posting a below par total, their bowlers have done a great job to defend the score.

For Mumbai Indians this is a golden opportunity to beat CSK at home and reach the Eden Gardens final! They would enjoy the crowd support and they have played real good cricket at home. The good part is their whole batting line up has found its form at the right time. Lendl Simmons and Parthiv Patel are doing well at the top of the order. Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu are scoring consistently in the middle order whereas Pollard and Harbhajan come in handy with the bat.

Lasith Malinga has found his form too while McClenaghan is proving fatal for the oppositions. Harbhajan, Suchith and Pollard are doing a decent job with the ball to contain the opposition.

The only worry for RCB could be their bowling. They have leaked good amount of runs. Even Mitchell Starc went for runs against MI. Overall he has been highly economical and Kohli would expect some good bowling figures from his bowlers tonight.

Last time these two teams locked horns at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. MI posted a huge total of 183. But CSK had some different thoughts. They chased down this mammoth target with 20 balls to go! One can expect a similar stunt from CSK tonight. Being at home and in such a good run, they would be difficult to beat.

Mumbai Indians had a real bad start to IPL 2015 campaign. Somehow they found the right combination and won five matches on the trot. That brings them right back into the contention for the play offs. Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu are consistently scoring runs for the team. Lasith Malinga could be unavailable for the day. Let us see who gets a chance in his place.

CSK not only has a strong batting line up but a very strong fielding and bowling unit. Ashish Nehra, Bravo, Pandey, Negi, Ashwin and Jadeja are all pretty effective with the ball. Infact Nehra and Bravo are leading the wickets tally at this moment.

With 10-9 head to head record, CSK would try to improve it further whereas Mumbai would aim a win to strengthen its claim for the top four positions.

Surprisingly Starc has bowled six batsmen out of his 11 wickets so far in IPL 2015. Since the time he joined the team, RCB has been able to contain the opposition for lower totals. 

KXIP is badly looking for an inspirational performance from the team members. Gone are those days when Maxwell or Miller used to hammers the bowlers all over the parks. Even Virender Sehwag has looked silent this year. Bailey has scored consistently and Murali Vijay has done a good job so far. But that hasn't been enough for the team to get to the winning ways.

M Chinnaswamy Stadium is well known for big scores. Infact around 70% runs are scored here in boundaries and sixes. With two teams that are well known for big hitting, we can see a lot of runs today. KXIP have won 9 out of 14 matches against RCB. But this year things don't seem to be going the Kings' way. Yes Kings XI Punjab can play spoil sport from here on by winning some matches and spoiling others' parties.

RCB will next face Mumbai Indians on 10th May. Kings XI Punjab will face KKR on 9th May.

Kolkata Knight Riders are on the third spot of points tally. They can't get complacent. They need to reserve some wins to reserve a spot in the play offs. They suffered a loss recently against CSK but in the most recent outing against CSK they nailed a win. Gambhir and Uthappa hold the key at top of the order while there are few all rounders in the middle order who can anchor the innings.

CSK is again at the top of the points tally. They need few more wins to seal a berth in the play offs. MS Dhoni's team has done a great job so far in IPL 2015. Their last match resulted in a near loss against KKR. They would like to recover today at Hyderabad. 

SRH has done a decent job this year under David Warner. Their only drawback is over reliability on openers David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan. Middle order has to score for wins. Bowling line up is strong to contain the likes of McCullum or Raina from CSK.

Again Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa will have to play a major role up the order. As KKR have opted to field first they are looking to chase down a total here. Eight out of the 10 last matches played here are won by chasing teams. That could have been a reason Gambhir opted to field first.

Dhoni at toss said he doesn't have a good idea of the pitch here. So he would have also liked to chase. But he welcomes Gambhir's decision and would try to post a good total on board. Brendon McCullum and Dwayne Smith have done a great job so far for CSK. Suresh Raina needs to be consistent with his bat. Pawan Negi and Ronit More get a chance to play for CSK today. Ishwar Pandey is rested while R Ashwin is out with an injury for next couple of matches.

Sunil Narine was an ace in the bowling unit for KKR last year. After seeing a ban on his bowling he rectified his action but he didn't look too effective this year. Above all, another ban has been imposed on his off-spinners. This creates another dark clouds on his career and he might be rested for next matches. Gambhir also likes to continue with Pat Cummins in place of Morkel who did a great job so far.

Bravo came up with a match winning last over against KKR last time. Let us see what he is due for tonight with his ball as well as the bat. 

KKR would strive hard to return the favours on CSK and register a win back home tonight. Let us see if they succeed or will it be CSK who would register another win.

Their last outing against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede was an absolute failure. They were chasing a modest total of 150 plus. But they never looked like winning. Ideally that total should have been chased with ease in presence of Warner and Dhawan.

The team is over relying on Warner and Dhawan's knocks. The middle order needs to click now before its too late. The bowling still looks good in presence of Boult, Praveen Kumar, Steyn, Karn Sharma and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar.

For Kings XI Punjab, Maxwell still holds the ace. But he isn't in good form at all. Shaun Marsh is reliable if he gets an opportunity tonight. David Miller and Sehwag too have looked silent this season. Bailey is yet to find the right combination for the winning formula.

This match promises to be highly competitive because both the teams are badly looking for a win here.

The overall performance for the team as a whole wasn't satisfactory. The bowling and fielding were below standard. Sunrisers Hyderabad has always pitched in the best bowling line up since last few years. Even their batsmen have been able to score big. But luck has hardly favoured this team. They too could be termed as under-achievers just like Royal Challengers Bangalore. These two teams deserve much more than what they have got so far.

SRH needs to revisit all the strategies if they have to start winning more games. David Warner leads the side and he could be highly influential. He is a dangerous opening batsmen when he gets going. He has a good support of Shikhar Dhawan who consistently scores run for the team.

Kolkata Knight Riders would love to continue their winning run with one of the openers sticking to the crease and middle order taking care of the acceleration. Gambir, Uthappa and Manish Pandey do a decent job up the order. They have a good bowling line up with Sunil Narine and Morne Morkel.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have lost their last three matches against Kolkata Knight Riders. RCB players need to come up with brilliant performance to go past the defending champions.
