Kolkata Knight Riders, with a big win under their belt will play today's match as favourites. Home ground, crowd support and high at confidence - three factors that make them the favourites tonight. KKR captain Gautam Gambhir, who is hardly seen smiling wore a smile after defeating Delhi Daredevils on Sunday. This is what a win does to you! As far as the head to head stats is concerned, Mumbai Indians are far ahead. Out of the 16 KKR vs MI matches, Mumbai Indians have won 11. With spin a friendly option on the Eden Garden's pitch, Harbhajan Singh would be eager to bowl. As far as the batting is concerned, the impetus shifts to Rohit Sharma, Simmons, Pollard and Butler. They need to score this time if they have to get rid of the slow 'winning starts' they generally have in the recently concluded IPLs.

With the likes of Raina, Bravo, McCullum, Finch, Faulkner and Jadeja; they are certainly a strong outfit.

Kings XI Punjab have had too many ups and downs in last two years. 2014 was a prolific year for them. They marched ahead to the finals like anything. Sehwag, Miller and Maxwell were on a roll. Especially Maxwell was hitting all the bowlers out of the park. They were unstoppable. They won 11 out of 14 matches that year.

But fortunes turned the other way round. They lost 11 out of 14 matches in IPL 2015. They finished at the bottom of the table. Miller and Maxwell were not in form. Nothing went their way last year.

The good part is, Kings XI Punjab tasted equal success and failure in last two years. So this year they can be well prepared with a solid strategy. They would be facing a new entrant today which has its own pros and cons. While Gujarat Lions is a completely inexperienced team with a relatively inexperienced skipper too, the same team would play freely as they have nothing to lose.
