KXIP is badly looking for an inspirational performance from the team members. Gone are those days when Maxwell or Miller used to hammers the bowlers all over the parks. Even Virender Sehwag has looked silent this year. Bailey has scored consistently and Murali Vijay has done a good job so far. But that hasn't been enough for the team to get to the winning ways.

KXIP have won 9 out of 14 matches against RCB. But this year things don't seem to be going the Kings' way. RCB takes on Kings XI Punjab in a crucial match tonight because a loss from here on will be affecting chances of a particular team to reach the play-offs. As Kings XI Punjab have underperformed this season, it would be a bonus for them if somehow they reach the play-offs. But Royal Challengers Bangalore have done pretty well so far and if they can't reach the play-offs that would be a huge disappointment for them. Hence this match terms to be crucial for either of the teams.

For Royal Challengers, the Indian batsmen viz. Virat Kohli, Mayank Agarwal and Sourabh Tiwary have not performed to their potential. Hence the batting unit over depends on Dilshan, Gayle and AB de Villiers. Gayle has been the most prolific batsman for RCB scoring 336 runs from 7 innings with 25 sixes which is maximum by any batsman in IPL 2012. He is followed by Pietersen who has 20 sixes to his name. 

Gilchrist couldn't play last four matches for Kings XI Punjab due to an injury and his inclusion in the playing XI still remains a question. David Hussey has done a good job as Punjab's skipper in absence of Gilly. A similarity between Punjab and Bangalore's batting line up is its excessive dependability on few batsmen. Punjab depends a lot on Mandeep Singh, David Hussey and their most inform batsman Shaun Marsh. 

As far as Punjab's bowling is concerned, Piyush Chawla has clinched 11 wickets at a very low economy rate. Azhar Mahmood's addition to the team has been a blessing. He bowls superbly well in the death overs and provides a strength to the lower batting order. Praveen Kumar is a very good swing bowler but he has failed to prove his worth this year.
