When two kings collide it is certainly a royal tussle! One of the most consistent IPL team headed by uber cool Dhoni will take on a fresh looking Kings XI Punjab led by George Bailey. Most exciting factor for Indian fans would be to see Virender Sehwag playing first time for a new team viz. Kings XI Punjab. He has been dropped from Delhi and acquired by Punjab this year. Let us hope he gets into his golden touch and scores heavily.

Chennai Super Kings have had a tough time in the finals in last two years. After winning 2010 and 2011 edition they lost to KKR in 2012 finals and to Mumbai Indians in the 2013 finals. None other team has been as performing every single year as this team does. So there are a lot of expectations from this team in the midst of all spot fixing investigation.

CSK has retained players like Dhoni, Jadeja, Ashwin and Bravo but they moved on from reliable Hussey which was a shocker. Not to forget they are still very strong with the likes of Faf du Plesis, McCullum,  Hilfenhaus, Mohit Sharma and many more. Meanwhile Kings XI retained Miller and Vohra only. They have Shaun Marsh, Johnson, Sehwag, Pujara, Bailey, Mandeep Singh and many more to name which actually makes them a stronger outfit this time atleast on paper. Good to have two tough teams battling out there in the UAE for a good start to their IPL campaigns. 

Rajasthan Royals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad did equally well in last IPL just to see themselves eliminated in the qualifiers/knockouts. Rajasthan Royals' best performance was in 2008 when they clinched the inaugural IPL trophy under Shane Warne. They were one of the favourites to win the IPL last year after the group stages but they couldn't  continue their good form in the knock outs.

Deccan Charges good a fresh look after they got a new owner and they were renamed as Sunrisers Hyderabad. They are always considered as underdogs where they are good enough to create some major upsets. They retained Steyn and Dhawan who are their best bits. Warner, Mishra, Sammy, Ishant, Irfan Pathan, Henriques and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar further strengthen their squad.
Rajasthan Royals Twitter page has posted a beautiful picture which says "the journey begins". It seems they are running a moustache campaign out there on twitter which looks pretty good.

Rajasthan Royals will miss the services of Rahul Dravid but they have retained some strong players like Faulkner, Watson (captain this time), Rahane, Binny and Samson. Their notable team members are Southee, Steven Smith, Unmukt Chand, Kevon Cooper, Pravin Tambe, Hodge and Bhatia

Chennai Super Kings take on Kings XI Punjab yet another time and as their names suggest, this could be a royal battle between the Kings. The Kings XI Punjab have a lot of  catching up to do as they are lingering at 6th position in the points table. Meanwhile Chennai Super Kings is way beyond the other teams comfortable on 1st rank.

We have reached the 45th match of IPL 2013 and even the summer temperature during the matches have touched 45 degree Celcius at times. Especially at Chennai today, players would struggle to play in the scorching heat. The team who wins the toss would like to bat first and field in the evening when the temperature drops down a little  bit.

Chennai Super Kings are riding high on confidence with six wins on the trot. After the shocking defeat against Pune Warriors way back, Chennai Super Kings made sure that they don't lose any after that. Their latest win came against Pune when they met them for the second time in IPL 2013. Meanwhile Kings XI Punjab suffered a narrow loss against Mumbai Indians. If they could have managed a win there, we could have seen another big shuffle in points tally. Especially Mumbai would have moved down because they also lost their last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad yesterday.

Adam Gilchrist couldn't gain any form and he had to drop himself. He made way for Australian stylish batsman Shaun Marsh who was a star for Kings XI Punjab in the first IPL. The batting form depends a lot on Mandeep Singh and David Miller. These two have been outstanding so far. As far as the bowling is concerned, Punjab has Praveen Kumar, Piyush Chawla, Azhar Mahmood, Manpreet Gony and many more to name.

For Chennai Super Kings, two men are guiding this team consistently to victories. They are none other than Michael Hussey and MS Dhoni. It was good to see Raina back in form as he scored 60 plus against Pune Warriors. Bowling has been disappointing this year for CSK and if their bowling clicks this team would be unbeatable.

Although the Kings XI team won a match against the lacklustre team of Pune Warriors, but a win is still a win, isn't it? This team will still be underdogs against the strong CSK team and capable enough to create an upset. Gilchrist who probably plays his last IPL would love his team to win matches consistently and clinch first ever title win for Punjab.

Punjab's team has a descent bowling line up with Ryan Harris doing a good job at the top. He is well supported by Parwinder Awana and Piyush Chawla. Allrounder Azhar Mahmood can certainly come in handy with his bowling breakthroughs.

On the other hand if we talk about CSK, they would cherish the return of Albie Morkel into the side. Overall they have a well balanced side. They narrowly lost against Mumbai due to lack of runs from the upper order. A brilliant knock from Dhoni gave them hopes for a victory but it was proved wrong due to a brilliant catch by Pollard. CSK can take some positives out of that match. One of the biggest positives would be the way Dhoni batted with sheer confidence.

The team would expect similar contributions from Badrinath, Hussey, Murali Vijay, etc. Kings XI Punjab defeated CSK last year in both their meetings and this would certainly be on the minds of CSK players. So they need to pull up their socks and clinch a win here to boost their confidence for upcoming matches.

Chennai vs Punjab - Delhi vs Bangalore - Will decide fate of some teams

Chennai Super Kings vs Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils vs Royal Challengers Bangalore are two matches which would certainly decide the fate of few teams. Delhi Daredevils are already through to the play-offs. Kings XI Punjab, Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers are the teams alongwith Rajasthan Royals that are still in the race to reach play-offs. If Punjab, Chennai or Bangalore loses, it may be curtains for them in IPL 2012.

1st Match - Chennai Super Kings vs Kings XI Punjab

Chennai Super Kings has to win this match if they have to stay alive in IPL 2012. So is the case of Kings XI Punjab. So this promises to be a nail biter. Chennai Super Kings continues their trend of bouncing back hard in the final phase of IPL. If they have to stay away from the net run rate permutations and combinations they simply need to win this one.

Punjab was doing a great job in last few matches until they lost one against Delhi Daredevils in their last match. A win there could have provided them an upper hand in this face off. They have 14 points and two wins will take them to 18 points. If they lose here it is almost all over for them in IPL 2012.

Michael Hussey, Faf du Plessis and lately Murali Vijay has provided good amount of runs whereas Raina and Dhoni haven't contributed to their potential. Morkel, Bravo and Jadeja have contributed some brilliant all round performances to take CSK home.

David Hussey is doing a pretty good job in absence of skipper Gilchrist. Shaun Marsh and Mandeep Singh are the two batting stars whereas Piyush Chawla, Azhar Mahmood and Parwinder Awana are doing brilliant job with the ball.

2nd Match - Delhi Daredevils vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore is a very popular team amongst the fans because it is fancied with the Gayle storm. Anyone and eveyone would love to watch Gayle while he bats. Similarly the team is full of other powerful hitters viz. Kohli, Dilshan and AB de Villiers. 

RCB is desperate for a win whereas Delhi is relieved with an assured place in the play-offs. RCB scored 170 plus but they lost to Mumbai Indians in the last match. So bowling for RCB stays inconsistent. Ideally RCB would prefer to chase rather than bat first.

Delhi Daredevils is over dependant on the top batting order. So this would be a good practice match for Delhi to try their middle order strength. Meanwhile Sehwag, Naman Ojha, Jayawardene and Warner can do a great job for DD.
