On the other hand if we talk about CSK, they would cherish the return of Albie Morkel into the side. Overall they have a well balanced side. They narrowly lost against Mumbai due to lack of runs from the upper order. A brilliant knock from Dhoni gave them hopes for a victory but it was proved wrong due to a brilliant catch by Pollard. CSK can take some positives out of that match. One of the biggest positives would be the way Dhoni batted with sheer confidence.

The team would expect similar contributions from Badrinath, Hussey, Murali Vijay, etc. Kings XI Punjab defeated CSK last year in both their meetings and this would certainly be on the minds of CSK players. So they need to pull up their socks and clinch a win here to boost their confidence for upcoming matches.

Delhi Daredevils are already through to the play-offs. Kings XI Punjab, Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers are the teams alongwith Rajasthan Royals that are still in the race to reach play-offs. If Punjab, Chennai or Bangalore loses, it may be curtains for them in IPL 2012.

1st Match - Chennai Super Kings vs Kings XI Punjab

Chennai Super Kings has to win this match if they have to stay alive in IPL 2012. So is the case of Kings XI Punjab. So this promises to be a nail biter. Chennai Super Kings continues their trend of bouncing back hard in the final phase of IPL. If they have to stay away from the net run rate permutations and combinations they simply need to win this one.

Punjab was doing a great job in last few matches until they lost one against Delhi Daredevils in their last match. A win there could have provided them an upper hand in this face off. They have 14 points and two wins will take them to 18 points. If they lose here it is almost all over for them in IPL 2012.

Michael Hussey, Faf du Plessis and lately Murali Vijay has provided good amount of runs whereas Raina and Dhoni haven't contributed to their potential. Morkel, Bravo and Jadeja have contributed some brilliant all round performances to take CSK home.

David Hussey is doing a pretty good job in absence of skipper Gilchrist. Shaun Marsh and Mandeep Singh are the two batting stars whereas Piyush Chawla, Azhar Mahmood and Parwinder Awana are doing brilliant job with the ball.

2nd Match - Delhi Daredevils vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore is a very popular team amongst the fans because it is fancied with the Gayle storm. Anyone and eveyone would love to watch Gayle while he bats. Similarly the team is full of other powerful hitters viz. Kohli, Dilshan and AB de Villiers. 

RCB is desperate for a win whereas Delhi is relieved with an assured place in the play-offs. RCB scored 170 plus but they lost to Mumbai Indians in the last match. So bowling for RCB stays inconsistent. Ideally RCB would prefer to chase rather than bat first.

Delhi Daredevils is over dependant on the top batting order. So this would be a good practice match for Delhi to try their middle order strength. Meanwhile Sehwag, Naman Ojha, Jayawardene and Warner can do a great job for DD.

Chennai Super Kings play against Kings Eleven Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore takes on Kolkata Knight Riders.

1st Match:- Chennai Super Kings vs Kings XI Punjab

MA Chidambaram Stadium hosts the 37th match of IPL 2012 between CSK and Kings XI. CSK who are the defending champions have lacked lustre this year but as we all know they are the best team when it comes to bouncing back! They bounce back really hard just to clinch the finals! They are currently placed on the third position with four wins out of eight matches and a rain wash out against Bangalore. A win today can take them to the second position if Kolkata losses against RCB.

Chennai Super Kings has been benefited with some good wins against Rajasthan Royals and Pune Warriors in the last week. The batsmen in good form for CSK are Badrinath and Faf du Plesis. Suresh Raina is a star batsman for CSK and once he finds his lost form, the batting line up would look more dangerous. Albie Morkel, Dhoni, Bravo and Dhoni add up to the strength of this batting line up. Kulasekara, Bollinger, Morkel, Ashwin, Jakati, Jadeja and Yo Mahesh provide a huge inventory of bowling options to the skipper MS Dhoni. This team can still be considered as one of the favourites to go ahead and life the trophy.

Kings XI Punjab has had a miserable start to this year's league. But slolwy they are trying to gain the momentum. Although they are lagging behind on the second last position of points tally, but they are narrowly seperated from Mumbai Indians or Pune Warriors. A couple of wins can help them topple few teams on the points table. The pillar stones for Punjab's batting line up has been the Australian duo Shaun Marsh and David Hussey. Praveen Kumar couldn't clinch notable wickets so far but he can trouble Chennai batsmen with his swing bowling. Piyush Chawla was too expensive in his last match otherwise he is a good leg spin bowler to have in the team.

If we think of a prediction for today's match it seems Punjab would provide a good resistance playing away but finally Chennai will clinch a win here.

2nd Match:- Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kolkata Knight Riders

Royal Challengers Bangalore are undoubtedly the most royal team amongst all. They have a royal batting line up which consists of match turners like Kohli, Gayle, AB de Villiers and Dilshan. This team has regained its form after a bad start to IPL 2012. They can't take things easy from hereon as even they are narrowly separated from other teams in the points tally. 

The Eden Gardens will observe a clash of heavyweights as both these teams have 9 points and a better net run rate keeps Kolkata above Bangalore. If rain doesn't play a spoil sport we all would enjoy a flurry of runs when batsmen like McCullum, Gambhir, Yusuf Pathan, Kallis, Gayle, Dilshan and Kohli would play to entertain the crowd.

Will this again be a day for Chris Gayle - the powerhouse or will it be someone like McCullum who would play a swashbuckling innings to take Kolkata home? Or will it be a day that would belong to bowlers like Brett Lee, Narine, Shakib Al Hasan, Vettori or Zaheer Khan. We all need to wait and watch!
