Chennai Super Kings received a shocker when they lost a match against Pune Warriors this year. After that defeat Chennai hasn't looked back and all they did till now is win, win and win! Playing Saha in the last match against KKR was a good idea as he looked in a much better form compared to Murali Vijay. He scored a brisk 39 runs off just 23 balls against KKR. 

Hussey and Dhoni are major contributors to CSK's wins this year

MS Dhoni has equally contributed in the team's victories and he continues to be the deadliest finisher in contemporary cricket. Bowling wise Dhoni is disappointed since last few matches. Bravo and Nannes are constantly leaking a lot of runs. Ashwin is economical but he isn't providing too many breakthroughs. Overall the team finds it difficult to even defend big totals. Fielding has been phenomenal for this side.

Pune could play a role of party spoilers if they can manage some wins in this league. As far as their hopes of reaching the play-offs is concerned, it looks almost improbable. The team lacks good home players. Over dependency on overseas players have hit the team's form hard. Robin Uthappa and Yuvraj Singh have failed this time to provide strength to the brittle middle order.

The pitch here would provide a good contest between batsmen and bowler. This could not be a high scoring game but when CSK is playing we can definitely expect another cliff hanging last over finish. Five wins on the trot makes CSK the favourites to win this match and make their top position even stronger in the IPL points table.

Only two teams have played  6 matches out of which Rajasthan Royals are on the top and Kolkata Knight Riders are on the third position. Delhi Daredevils look highly impressive with 3 wins from 4 matches and clinching the second position in the IPL 2012 points table.

Today's match feature Delhi Daredevils taking on Deccan Chargers who are yet to win a match in IPL 2012. The other match features defending champs Chennai Super Kings taking on Pune Warriors India, who are placed on fourth position in the standings.

1st Match: Delhi Daredevils Vs Deccan Chargers 

It seems difficult to beat Delhi Daredevils especially after Jayawardene and Pietersen has joined the team. A win here today against Deccan Chargers takes them very comfortably to the first position in points table. Delhi is proving to be the most power packed team in this year's IPL. They didn't even fail to beat Mumbai Indians in Mumbai.

Inclusion of Ross Taylor into the side has been a further boost to team's confidence. Apart from these stars how can we forget the gem of Virender Sehwag who just swashbuckles the bowling attack at the top. Irfan Pathan has flourished for Delhi this year. Delhi's bowling looks brilliant with the likes of Umesh Yadav and Morne Morkel.

Deccan Chargers are the weakest team so far in IPL. They are badly looking to open their winning account. Their weak link is their bowling attack. Dale Steyn is obviously the best one in the side but he lacks support from other bowlers. Batting side looks perfect in the presence of Sangakkara, Dhawan, JP Duminy and many more to name. Deccan Chargers have to pull up their socks if they have to compete against "the team to beat" Delhi Daredevils.

2nd Match: Chennai Super Kings Vs Pune Warriors India

Venue of this match will be Chennai and this is the opportunity that the Super Kings need to grab. They have played 5 matches but managed to win just two. The three losses also includes one against Pune. Chennai Super Kings is well known to bounce back hard. 2010 and 2011 were two years of IPL where they started slowly and picked up pace in the second half of the league to go on and lift the trophy. 

Murali Vijay has failed so far but his partner  Faf du Plessis has been brilliant so far. Allrounder Ravindra Jadeja has done a good job and still a good bowling knock is awaited from Ashwin. Unfortunately Albie Morkel isn't available for this match so Dhoni will feel the absence of another good allrounder. 

Ganguly is yet to play to his potential but he has led the team well to the fourth position in the points table so far. Pune Warriors rely a lot on their openers Ryder and Uthappa. Marlon Samuels is a good contributor both from bat and ball. Ashok Dinda has been brilliant with his bowling. 

Although pressure would be more on Chennai Super Kings to pull a win here but even Pune Warriors would feel the heat when they play defending champions on their home turf.

The Pune Warriors led by Sourav Ganguly has got a better start to their IPL campaign this year when compared to last year. They clinched wins in their first two matches followed by a loss against Kings XI Punjab. The only problem likely for this team is the lack of ability to score big totals while batting first. Meanwhile Chennai Super Kings looked out of form initially but they surprised everyone by chasing a mammoth 205 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.


The Pune Warriors were enjoying their wins before they were comprehensively beaten by Punjab in the 12th match of IPL 2012. They take on Chennai at their home ground Subrata Roy Sahara stadium in Pune and this should be an advantage for them. Ganguly finally looked in a good touch in the last match and he should carry forward the momentum in this match. His teammates and well known batsmen Ryder, Samuels and Uthappa should click in this match if they have to win against the defending champions Chennai. 


Ashok Dinda has been very impressive for Pune Warriors. He has the support of Ashish Nehra and Rahul Sharma. Pune should not pitch in 8 batsmen because that results in a bowler short. Murali Karthik should get an opportunity.


Chennai Super Kings were comprehensively outbeaten by Delhi Daredevils but we all know how hard Chennai can bounce back. Chasing 205 was just like pulling a rabbit out of the hat! Faf du Plessis laid the foundation of this chase; Dhoni and Morkel completed the winning cause. They have other hard hitting batsmen like Murali Vijay, Bravo and highest run scorer in IPL viz. Suresh Raina.


Chennai's bowling unit failed miserably against Bangalore giving away 205 runs in 20 overs. But overall they are one of the best bowlers in the league. With the likes of Bollinger, Bravo, Morkel, Ashwin, Jadeja and Jakati; Dhoni would always feel comfortable.


Pitch here has a slow nature and probably would suit the spinners more than the quickies. So no wonder if both the teams pitch in atleast two specialist spinners. Chennai looks favourite for this match and they may pull in a comfortable win in Pune.
