Delhi Daredevils vs Deccan Chargers - Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals

After a good amount of reshuffling in the points table, couple of matches provides another opportunity for a team like Chennai Super Kings to climb up the tally and for a team like Delhi or Rajasthan to strengthen their position in the table.

1st Match - Delhi Daredevils vs Deccan Chargers

Deccan Chargers have impressed overall with their batting but nothing new as their bowling department keeps them letting down. After AB de Villiers turned tables on them, Deccan Chargers again faced a defeat against Kings XI Punjab. Every win from now on for Deccan Chargers would be spoiling party for some or the other teams.

As usual, Shikhar Dhawan, Cameron White and Sangakkara have provided a good batting display for Deccan Chargers. Apart from Dale Steyn none of the bowlers have impressed leaving the bowling line up very fragile.

On the other hand Delhi has been the most dominating team this year. They lost their last match against Kolkata  Knight Riders to concede top spot to them. But Delhi has played one game less than Kolkata so they have an opportunity to topple them in terms of points after playing equal matches.

Delhi Daredevils' top order has performed upto the mark. Especially Virender Sehwag and Kevin Pietersen did a brilliant job before Kevin had to leave for England to play against West Indies. David Warner needs to perform well so that the team doesn't feel Kevin's absence. Bowling is well handled by Umesh Yadav, Irfan Pathan and Albie Morkel.

2nd Match - Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals

Chennai Super Kings didn't look like defending champions apart from a match or two. They are sliding down the points tally and the closest competitors are toppling them to climb up the standings. Rajasthan Royals is a team in good form and to beat them would not be easy in Jaipur.

Shane Watson hammered 90 runs in 50 odd balls against Pune Warriors to provide a brilliant win to Rajasthan Royals. Rahul Dravid and Ajinkya Rahane can provide a good support to Watson. Rajasthan's bowling has been pretty good so far.

Chennai needs to play every game from hereon as a must win encounter. They can't afford to lose any more matches. Batting had been good for them so far but someone like Raina or Bravo need to gain momentum. If they can win most out of the remaining four matches, they can very well find themselves in the play-offs.

We have almost concluded one-third of the IPL matches and following is the status of IPL 2012 points tally:-

Only two teams have played  6 matches out of which Rajasthan Royals are on the top and Kolkata Knight Riders are on the third position. Delhi Daredevils look highly impressive with 3 wins from 4 matches and clinching the second position in the IPL 2012 points table.

Today's match feature Delhi Daredevils taking on Deccan Chargers who are yet to win a match in IPL 2012. The other match features defending champs Chennai Super Kings taking on Pune Warriors India, who are placed on fourth position in the standings.

1st Match: Delhi Daredevils Vs Deccan Chargers 

It seems difficult to beat Delhi Daredevils especially after Jayawardene and Pietersen has joined the team. A win here today against Deccan Chargers takes them very comfortably to the first position in points table. Delhi is proving to be the most power packed team in this year's IPL. They didn't even fail to beat Mumbai Indians in Mumbai.

Inclusion of Ross Taylor into the side has been a further boost to team's confidence. Apart from these stars how can we forget the gem of Virender Sehwag who just swashbuckles the bowling attack at the top. Irfan Pathan has flourished for Delhi this year. Delhi's bowling looks brilliant with the likes of Umesh Yadav and Morne Morkel.

Deccan Chargers are the weakest team so far in IPL. They are badly looking to open their winning account. Their weak link is their bowling attack. Dale Steyn is obviously the best one in the side but he lacks support from other bowlers. Batting side looks perfect in the presence of Sangakkara, Dhawan, JP Duminy and many more to name. Deccan Chargers have to pull up their socks if they have to compete against "the team to beat" Delhi Daredevils.

2nd Match: Chennai Super Kings Vs Pune Warriors India

Venue of this match will be Chennai and this is the opportunity that the Super Kings need to grab. They have played 5 matches but managed to win just two. The three losses also includes one against Pune. Chennai Super Kings is well known to bounce back hard. 2010 and 2011 were two years of IPL where they started slowly and picked up pace in the second half of the league to go on and lift the trophy. 

Murali Vijay has failed so far but his partner  Faf du Plessis has been brilliant so far. Allrounder Ravindra Jadeja has done a good job and still a good bowling knock is awaited from Ashwin. Unfortunately Albie Morkel isn't available for this match so Dhoni will feel the absence of another good allrounder. 

Ganguly is yet to play to his potential but he has led the team well to the fourth position in the points table so far. Pune Warriors rely a lot on their openers Ryder and Uthappa. Marlon Samuels is a good contributor both from bat and ball. Ashok Dinda has been brilliant with his bowling. 

Although pressure would be more on Chennai Super Kings to pull a win here but even Pune Warriors would feel the heat when they play defending champions on their home turf.
