Latest Cricket Buzz

There are a lot of things always going around in the cricket world. Sometimes it is hard to keep a track of everything. Here are some of the important and latest news related to cricket from around the world.

  • Australia is playing against Srilanka in the last final of 'best of three' finals at Adelaide Oval. Srilanka has a slight edge on the hosts as they have dismissed the Australian team for just 231 runs. Looking at the strong batting line up of the Srilankan team, it is very likely that they would comfortably chase this total and lift the CB Series 2012. Australians never let things go easily so we may see a good fightback from the Aussie bowling department. Australia received a good start from Wade (49 runs) and Warner (48 runs). But after that they kept losing wickets on regular intervals and things never settled till the end when Lee and McKay provided some resistance and took the total to 231. Maharoof and Herath clinched 3 wickets each. Following graph shows the Australian batting partnerships:-

  • Now let us travel to a little towards east and reach New Zealand. South Africa is playing a test match against New Zealand at Dunedin and things look even stevens at the end of Day 2. New Zealand bounced back after an ODI series loss and bundled South Africa for 238 in first innings. Apart from Smith (53), Amla (62) and Rudolph (52), all the other South African batsmen failed to score big. Martin took 4 wickets. In reply even New Zealand couldn't impress much as they are 243 for 9 and can enjoy a very slim lead over South Africa. McCullum scored 48, Taylor scored 44 and Vettori scored 46. Philander was the most successful bowler from South Africa as he took 4 wickets. This match is turning out to be interesting and is certainly going to provide us a result.

  • Meanwhile there is a breaking news from India - the batting maestro and the so called "Wall" of Indian Cricket, Rahul Dravid, has called for a press conference tomorrow at Bangalore and he is likely to retire after dedicating 16 years to international cricket. He ages 39 right now and he made his debut for India in 1996 where he scored a brilliant 95 at the Lord's. He has 13,288 test runs and 10,899 ODI runs and 31 runs in T20 cricket. He will always be remembered for his perfect batting techniques and his excellent skills to stay on the crease for a long time. He also was an occasional wicketkeeper for India and never let the team down in terms of his dedication. He also captained India in 25 test matches. He holds the record of maximum number of catches in Test cricket. Recently he was under scanner due to his bad form down under against Australia in the test series.

  • It is hardly a few days left for Asia Cup 2012 and teams are all geared up to give their best. Dav Whatmore has been appointed as the new coach for Pakistan and he wants to kick start his tenure with Pakistan on a winning note. He is aware of the fact that Pakistan has just won only one Asia Cup title so far, so he would like to better this record in Bangladesh.
