Injured Vinay Kumar makes way for Irfan Pathan

Indian squad to Srilanka has a change in it. Vinay Kumar has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury and he will be replaced by Irfan Pathan. Vinay Kumar is out of action for almost three weeks. This serves a brilliant opportunity for Irfan Pathan to make a come back to the Indian side.

Irfan Pathan was once the most fancied all rounder in world cricket. After enjoying a good form he just lost track and lost his place in the team. He made a come back during West Indies tour of India (December 2011) after almost three years. Since then he got an opportunity to play in the Asia Cup and also in the CB Series played in Australia. Since then his performance has not been bad but not too exceptional as well. He wasn't picked in the original squad to Srilanka.

Irfan Pathan believes he has been putting a lot of efforts in the nets and now he needs to shift the impetus towards the tour to Srilanka. He added that after his comeback he clinched 13 wickets from 8 matches and scored about 100 runs in five innings. He needs more matches to improve his performance and regain the lost form.

Irfan Pathan has a big fan following and those fans are excited to see him getting another opportunity in International cricket. He was born in 1984 in Baroda, Gujarat. He is a left handed batsman and a left handed  medium fast bowler. In 29 test matches he has scored 1105 runs and got 100 wickets. He has played 115 ODIs and scored 1468 runs and clinched 165 wickets. He has played 17 T20 international matches, scored 133 runs and got 17 wickets.

Pathan made his test debut against Australia in December 2003. His ODI debut also came against Australia in January 2004. His T20 International debut was against South Africa in December 2006. His inclusion in the team would add an all-rounder to the team which would be a good confidence booster for Dhoni and company.
