India vs Srilanka 2012 Cricket Series

India's Tour to Srilanka 2012

Indian cricket team will visit Srilanka for a T20 and ODI cricket series. The tour includes one T20 international match and five ODI matches. Indian team has been on a long rest after the conclusion of Indian Premier League 2012. Cricket fans were over saturated with lot of cricket but a long break will again relive the magic of the game we all love amongst the fans.

Srilanka will be playing against India after concluding a long cricket series against Pakistan. So overall Srilanka has an upper hand since they already have a good match practice by playing against Pakistan on home grounds plus India would be a bit out of touch due to a rest from International cricket for a few days.

Sehwag and Zaheer Khan are back into the Indian squad. These two were rested for the Asia Cup 2012 which was the last time India met Srilanka in an international face off. Sachin Tendulkar has opted out of this tour as he wants to concentrate more on the upcoming test series against New Zealand. This way he can extend his career and provide a helping hand to the team in test cricket.

Indian players who missed out to make into the squad were Ravindra Jadeja, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, etc. The key players who got an entry to the squad were Pragyan Ojha, Ajinkya Rahane, Umesh Yadav, Manoj Tiwary and Rahul Sharma. Even the seamer Praveen Kumar couldn't find a place into the squad for Srilanka's tour.

There has been questions from the cricket fans that why the selected squad doesn't have allrounders in it. Inclusion of all rounders into the team always creates a good balance in the batting and bowling order. Anyway with a return of International cricket for the Indian fans, this question doesn't have a huge priority. Not to forget, teams are also gearing up for the ICC T20 World Cup 2012 which isn't too far.
