Fastest Century in IPL

We all love to see towering sixes in cricket isn't it? The one stop source to see maximum six is IPL and how about watching a batsman who hits a ton in hardly 40 balls? Wouldn't it be amazing? So let us check what is the record of fastest century in IPL history.

A hundred in a T20 format itself is nothing less than a miracle. Above that if you hit it in least number of balls is purely a magic. This record stays with Yusuf Pathan who scored 100 runs in just 37 balls! Let us have complete details of his innings and the match in which he scored this emphatic ton.

This was a match played on 13th March 2010 at Brabourne Stadium between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first. Jayasuriya and Sachin were opening batsmen and they could manage 23 and 17 runs respectively. Tare scored 23 as well whereas Tiwary and Rayudu anchored the innings pretty well as they scored 53 and 55 respectively. With 16 extras the innings ended on a mammoth figure of 212 in 20 overs.

This was a daunting target for Rajasthan Royals as they batted under lights. Asnodkar opened and returned to the pavilion without disturbing the scorers. Smith scored 26 whereas Ojha (12) and Jhunjhunwala (14) couldn't contribute much. Walked in Yusuf Pathan who had a firm plan of turning tables on the opposition. He started hitting the bowlers all around the park. He hit 8 huge sixes and 9 boundaries and reached his 100 in 37 balls before he was run out. Dogra supported him pretty well with a score of 41 in 29 balls. This was a very narrow defeat for Rajasthan Royals at they lost by just 4 runs to Mumbai Indians.

Yusuf Pathan clinched Man of the match award for his valiant effort. Following is the list of fastest centuries in the IPL history so far:-
